The Itte Field Massacre
Agetoki's forces are suprised by a Larger Dragon Army.
From the Diary of Shosuro Daigoro, Spy
We were training in the field when the casaulities came into our camp. There had been a battle between the Phoenix/Crane and the fledging clan the Millipede. The Millipede's petition for minor clan status was being held up in the courts but was expected to be approved. After this however, I began to think they were doomed.
All according to Aramoro-sama's plan. Josai was doing an excellent job delaying the petition and manuevering the Crane envoy to directly cross the Millipede borders was certain to cause conflict. His sister doing likewise to the make sure that the Phoenix would be nearby to help the Crane when needed. Everything was falling into place. Soon we would have the Millipede's lands in the hands of our own "minor clan". The next step was to send the Lion to "reign in these upstart ronin and put them in their proper place".
Agetoki was the first to volunteer for such duty, and he would've suceeded had not Hitomi heard the news and within days dispatched us to defend the new clan's borders. I only wish I had the opportunity to send word, but my unit (Nogata's Fireblossoms) was sent to the Millipede border. I am only glad that it was Lion bushi and not my own clansmen I was to fight. (Notes on the Rosters: The Dragon one is incomplete, this is due to the fact that I only recorded what I actually saw used of the field.)

Set Up
Agetoki begins the game wounded slightly from a previous encounter with some bandits. (Togashi Gaijin's Events Rules) Gaijin's Events Table
|
Turn One
The Lion troops gave out a mighty roar and began advancing towards our lines. Yasu and Wakiza both gave the command to fire and our arrows claimed 3 lion bushi.
|
 |
Turn Two
The Lion continue to advance, unhindered by our arrows. Agetoki moves forward only to discover one of our traps. It kills 2 Wardens while more arrows, aided by Wakiza's own magical fury, claim another 3 Lion samurai.
|
 |
Turn Three
Wakiza and the Agasha shugenja summon air kamis to aid them by placing stagnant air infront of the Lion Medium Regulars and the Warcats. The Warcats ignore it and continue to stalk the Fireblossoms while the Medium Regulars are stopped cold. Arrows claim another 9 samurai, but the Lion refuse to leave the field.
|
 |
Turn Four
More stagnant air is summoned in front of the Wardens, Warcats and the Lion Medium Regulars, but for nothing as they continue forward. However the archers take aim and another 13 Lion fall dead. (LMR#2 Breaks). Finally Mitsu decides it time for action and the Ise Zumi activate their Centipede Tattoo and rush to intercept the Warcats.

Turn Five
Stagnant Air turns out to be beyond the Agasha's mastery as he summons it for the last time in front of the Warcats. The lone lion chui realizing his unit is gone, charges Yasu's Dragonflame. He is riddled with arrows and sent to his ancestors. On the other end of the field, Imura unleashes the warcats and they charge the Fireblossoms, losing 2 to reactionary fire but killing 5. As Agetoki moves to avenge the chui the Nogata orders us to throw our grenades to good effect, as we killed 5 of the Wardens. The previously broken Lion find thier courage and rush after the Ise Zumi.
|
 |
Turn Six
The Kami's Blood races thru the Ise Zumi as the Centipede Tattoo's effect continues as they race to aid thier comrades and charge the Warcats from behind. Agetoki turns to leave the field and the last Warden is cut down and he is further wounded by Yasu's archers. The last of the Regulars rush to persue the Ise Zumi but also suffer the same fate as those before them and receive one fatal arrow each. The Warcats lose 4 before it is decided the battle is lost and the run.

The End
When the dust and smoke had cleared, I could only see Agetoki leaving the field, cursing the entire way. The bodies of the Lion were everywhere, most with arrows bearing the Dragon colors in them. I had to turn away from the sight. Even though I remembered what they had done to us at Otosan Uchi, nothing prepared me for this. Where was the honor in this? I quickly remembered where I was and proceeded to celebrate with the rest of my unit lest I draw suspicion. This victory was not good for Aramoro's plans. Today belong to the Dragon in more ways than they knew.
