Playing with Oni (or clan war with small children around)

We watched the Unicorn Battlemaidens spread out along the ridge. Otaku Kamoko rode out in front of her lines to inspect them as the other troops in her horde moved up behind them. This battle would be bloody. The Deathseekers were on the opposite side of the field, waiting for Agetoki's command, then the would rush forth and try to regain their honor by dying on the battlefield.

There was a quiet on the field as we watched both armies hold still for a moment, as if frozen in place. We dared not move, lest we given away our position. It was like looking a painting. Both armies poised for battle in all their glory. Banners flying the colors of their clans proudly in the noon light of Ameratsu's rays. Then the quiet was pierced suddenly by Kamoko's battle cry and both forces roared and leapt toward each other intent on either victory or death.

As the first of the Battlemaidens reached the Deathseekers, a monsterous hand descended and plucked Kamoko from the field. Another swung down and then have the Deathseekers lay dead along with most of the Battlemaidens. Kamoko was now behind the Lion battle lines, placed there by this monster's hand. I had heard of oni existing that could fill and entire battlefield but thought them to be nothing more than myth, a story told by peasants to scare their children to bed. But here they were, towering over the plain snatching bushi from the field with impunity. Oni no Ben'ichi and Oni no Zakura. They descended on the battle, the Unicorn and Lion bushi had no chance, for the rules had changed.....

These are homebrew rules for anyone whose ever tried to play when there were little ones around. I used the word "try", because as soon as these little guys find out that you're trying to play a game, that immediately becomes more interesting than anything that spawn of Fu Leng Barney could ever be doing. And we all remember at that age we had to touch everything that looked even remotely neat. So these are for those die hard players that even when faced with this, want to at least try to keep playing.

Rule One: If one of your models is physically removed from his/her unit other than as a casaulty and placed elsewhere on the battlefield, treat that model as a separate unit all unto itself. It is considered to become immediately broken, and must either attempt to rejoin its unit or leave the field. If the model was the unit's leader, that unit becomes unformed and must make a morale test. Both leader and unit must attempt to rejoin and move toward each other.

Rule Two: If any models are knocked over, they are considered to have been outright killed. Leaders are knocked down to half their wounds . Units immediately become unformed and must make a morale test.

Rule Three: Any dice picked up are removed and you must only use the die results in front of you. If You need to make a die roll and your dice are instead rolled by one of the small people, you have to take those results. Also if after a die roll has been made and the dice are picked up and re-rolled, the same applies.

Rule Four: Any model removed from the field and not placed back on during the battle is considered to be a casuality.

There you go, good luck to any who are crazy enough to actually try these out.
